Benefits
of the FOH Program:
|
|
| |
- Increases range
of motion
- Is particularly
helpful in increasing upper body mobility
- Decreases risk
of lymphedema & reduces swellling
- Reduces frozen
shoulder
- Improves overall
posture
- Assists in structurally
rebalancing the body
- Increases positive
body image
- Elevates self-esteem
- Provides a supportive
environment with other survivors
- Decreases depression
- Creates empowerment
|
|
| |
Why does it work? |
|
| |
- Traditional
physiotherapy movements are translated into dance & exercise language,
providing a much more motivating environment
- Music stimulates
patients to move more freely than they otherwise would
- Takes patients'
minds off pain and limitation and focuses on feeling the movement
through the music
- Allows patients
to see others achieving-they know it is possible!
|
|
| |
The program is particularly
effective in that it can be brought into rural areas and communities
which do not have the support and/or facilities normally available in
larger centers. The classes can be taught by anyone wishing to become
certified, in any facility that accommodates 10 people (community center,
small gymnasium, church basements, etc.)

Focus
on Healing is a nonprofit company devoted to giving back the quality
of life to survivors to be "Thrivers" by providing education,
training, free classes for FOH, free videos of FOH and the book "Thriving
after Breast Cancer". We develop educational materials to help
survivors answer questions that come up in their daily lives that happen
once the doctors say goodbye.
SURVIVING
IS IMPORTANT
BUT THRIVING IS ELEGANT!!!....
|
|
| |
There
are over 2.5 Million Breast Cancer survivors living today and 203,000
will be diagnosed this year. Because survivors are living longer there
is a greater need for increasing their quality of life and FOH is an
important part of this process. jane@probeautyshop.net |
